Introduce yourself with a free course!
While trailers are an essential part of course marketing, new customers can still be hesitant to purchase high-cost courses with a new course provider. Consider offering a short free course on a similar or complementary subject or topic so new customers can get to know you and your instructional style!
When considering offering a free course, use it to your advantage by including the different ways you engage with your learners - be it visually, or with exercises and video clips. While not all paid courses need to include the features used in your free course, we recommend that you avoid including activities in the free course that are not found in your course catalogue.
Here are some ideas of what to include:
Visuals
What kinds of visuals do you usually include in your courses? Are they informative? Challenging? Do you usually include infographics - or do you focus on striking stock photography?
Visual elements can help learners better understand and retain information, make complex concepts more accessible by breaking down textual information, and enhance engagement by adding aesthetic appeal. Including visuals in your free course can help future customers what they can expect from you!
Audio and video
Show potential students and clients what type of audio and video content are commonly found in your courses.
Audio components, including narrations, dialogues, and sound effects, bring courses to life and enhance the learning experience. By incorporating audio, instructors can reinforce information through spoken explanations and demonstrations.
Whether you use engaging voiceovers with slide presentations, animations, video clips from experts in the field, or videos of yourself as an instructor, including audio and video will help learners get to know your personality and tone!
Exercises & Assessments
How do you use interactive elements in your courses? Do you usually include quizzes? Attach documents with tasks? Checklists?
Interactivity provides opportunities for learners to apply knowledge, receive immediate feedback, and reinforce their understanding - and can also increase motivation and enjoyment! Make sure your course offers a similar type of interactivity to your course library.
Happy course building!
